Yes, I realize it isn’t Monday, but I am throwing a Monday potluck anyway.
I am just holding my breath that the Monday Potluck Police don’t notice.
So, summertime has been busy.
There are the usual things that happen around the house.
Then the added details of camps, vacations, baseball games and swimming pool visit quotas.
Oh, and there are kids at my house all day. Everyday. And they expect to be fed.
Seriously.
I declare that the words “summer vacation” only applies to those under 18 years of age.
Almost every evening, my husband and I take a walk. We have been going later and later due to the heat. We always try to be back by dark because where we live there are no street lights and the last part of our walk is on the street.
About mid-way through our walk there is this No Trespassing sign:
It is VERY effectively guarded by a copperhead snake {note the orange arrow above}.
And by effectively I mean that I wouldn’t even THINK of trespassing.
Which is just another reason to be home by dark.
Yep, another story. But thankfully this one has less poisonous snake mentions.
A week or so ago, I went to Nashville with some other bloggers for ConAgra’s Hunger-Free Summer. It is an amazing partnership with Feeding America with the goal to feed hungry kids through the summer months when they don’t have the support of a school meal program.
The spokesperson is Country Music Artist, Kellie Pickler. I was able to meet Kellie and work beside her for a few minutes at the Second Harvest Food Bank packing weekend meal backpacks.

See!
That is 1/10th of me there on the left!
Yep. That is me!
The absolutely COOLEST thing is that YOU can easily help the Hunger-Free Summer program by downloading
The Hunger Avengers Activity Booklet. It is hosted at ConAgra's Facebook page and
for each download {or share}, ConAgra Foods Foundation will donate the monetary equivalent of one meal to Feeding America.
The bonus is that YOUR kids will have something to keep them occupied for a few minutes this summer because it is a super cute activity book.

How to Make a Solar Oven:
Despite the fun activities I have been doing with the kids, they are still HORRIFIED over the fact that I had the AUDACITY to sign them up for Reading Camp.
Cruel and unusual punishment.
The fruit bowl is filled with…
fruit.
Bananas to be exact.
But not for long by the hue of brown.
May you skip through fields today sans trespassing signs and snakes.
New to your site but love the idea of an online potluck…even if it leaves me a little hungry.
