Kale and Berry Smoothie ingredients
- 4 cups chopped kale (about 1/3 of a 1 pound bag)
- 1 cup water or juice
- 2 ripe bananas
- 1-2 cups frozen berries (we used frozen strawberries and blueberries)
Directions to make kale and berry smoothie recipe
Step 1
First, fill your blender to the top with the chopped kale. Add the water and blend with the cover on while occasionally turning off the blender and tamping down the kale with a spoon. Blend until completely smooth.
Step 2
Next, peel the bananas and break them into large pieces. Add to the blender and blend with the lid on until smooth.
Step 3
Now add your choice of frozen berries and blend, covered, until smooth again, about 1-2 minutes.
Serve immediately.
How to Serve kale and berry smoothie
You can also freeze into popsicles. If you want to make a kid-friendly sorbet, freeze it for 1-2 hours, till it just starts forming ice crystals. Stir and refreeze. Wait an hour or two and then stir again. At this point, you can refreeze it and it will stay soft.
Our kale sorbet is the perfect after-dinner sugar-free dessert for my dairy-intolerant kids. Who needs veggies for supper when we can have them for dessert!
