The boys have been discussing living arrangements.

The older boys are pretty sure that they will all live together when they are adults and might live next door to me.

boy discusses where he will live when he grows up

I am pretty sure they might find girls they like better than their brothers and these plans will dissolve in the name of love.

Not brotherly love.

Rhett(4) and I had the following discussion tonight as he took a bath:

Rhett:   I think when I get older I am going to make things out of Legos and sell them.

Me:   That sounds like a fun job.

I will find people who aren’t part of our family to buy them.

If they aren’t in our family, they will have to pay money.

Yes.   You could sell your Lego creations.

All the Legos would be here at home.   I could use those.

Whoa.   How old will you be when you do this?

You won’t be living at home if you are an adult.

Because you will have a family of your own.   You can build your Legos there.

I think I will still live here with you, mom and daddy.

No.   I am an adult and I don’t live with grandma and grandpa even though they are my mom and dad.

Then I think I will live with grandma and grandpa.

  1. LOL. That’s it…hand him off to your parents. It’s SO what I would do 😀

  2. My boys plan on living just down the road from me. Havoc already has his future house picked out. Mayhem sees no point in moving out until he gets married but then he’s going to buy the house across the street & they will live there & I’ll get to see his babies every day.

Which is sweet…but I have no intention of being a SAH Grandma if that is what he has in mind.

  3. does he feel you abandoned your parents and it is his job to stand in the gap and repair whatever damage you have caused them??? 🙂 so cute!

  4. What a precious conversation! Thanks for sharing it.

  5. Oh my God, how hilarious is he?! Sounds a bit like something one of my little brothers would come up with … 😛

  6. I think that is so precious. Little boys are so sweet. Then they find girls and all that changes, but it is OK!!!

  7. Mine have decided to live next to each other and either next door to us or down the street (changes depending on the day). I hope they always want to live close to each other and to me!

  8. What is it with this generation? They plan on mooching on us, rent free for life!

  9. Anna Katherine Page says:

So funny! Can’t believe Rhett is so grown up. I think of him a lot lately because my second son Nicholas has a similar personality. He actually smiles when he gets up in the morning! Hope y’all are doing great!

  10. I don’t know….my sister is an adult and she lives with her parents….Let’s just hope he’s better at paying his bills than she is. 🙂

  11. This is so funny! I think your son is brilliant for suggesting that he stay with the grandparents. My little girl asked me to call her Grandma yesterday because she was ready to go to her house now. Sure enough, the week is over and right after preschool she escaped to Grandma’s.

I really love your site! You’re a super busy mama. Pass some of your energy my way, please.

  12. I love how their little minds work! Sometimes it would be fun to go live with grandma though wouldn’t it? 🙂 I’m so glad you stopped by my blog! My inlaws are here because we’re going to the game tomorrow! Wave at the Oklahoma section. We’ll be wearing our Husker red with pride! I will be back when I have a little more time.

  13. that is precious! i love talking about this stuff with my boys. it is so funny to hear what they want to be when they grow up and one of my 4 yr olds says he is never going to have a girlfriend or a wife- he only loves me!

    cracks me up!
