I love Lynn’s story. He started playing the bass at age 9 and by the early 80’s Lynn he became the house bassist at the Blue Wisp Jazz Club in Cincinnati. He then joined Woody Herman in 1984 and played with the Count Basie Orchestra in 1985. Seaton also played with such greats as Tony Bennett and George Shearing. It wasn’t until 1998 when Seaton found a home here in Texas. He accepted a job to teach at the world famous University of North Texas, one of the largest jazz programs in the world. The Lynn Seaton Trio will again play Rhythm Nites at Vitruvian on Wednesday, August 29th. The concert starts at 8 pm and runs through 10 pm. Don’t forget to bring a blanket, some wine and maybe a snack. You will be witness to one of the best jazz bassists around.
And now that the kids are back at school, this makes for the perfect date night out!
