I needed help finding
books that my
9 year old boy would read. You helped me…THANKS.
Here is the
recommended book list for Fourth grade boys listed by the most often suggested.
I see several that we have read and added my comments – I will be updating those as we continue through the list this summer…

If you are looking for reading materials this summer for yourself, please check out the book recommendations for moms and I will soon post the recommendations for a 2nd grade boy.
Thanks again!
we are working our way through Magic Tree House with the 8 year old and the 12 year old can’t put Percy Jackson down.
Indian in the cupboard brings back a lot of memories, Holly. They even did a movie version of it some 15 years ago 😀 thank you very much for all these suggestions!
Check out “Kingdom Keepers” by Ridley Pearson. We’re a part of a Disney Homeschool group and this series (it’s 3 books I think) is all the rage with these kids right now. I just picked it up for my 7.5 year old, so I’m hoping it’s good!
By the way, I gave you a blog award! Come and get it!

The Hank Zipzer series by Henry Winkler – very funny!
My son loved the Percy Jackson series.
I have a 9-year-old GIRL and that reading list looks VERY familiar!
Just wanted to say THANK YOU for the hosting the P&G contest! I won! It’s the first time I’ve ever won anything! I’ll be blogging about it tonight!!
Thanks again!

I can’t believe that you left off Voltaire’s Candide. If you can’t learn to gently mock optimism at 10, when will you learn?
So….In addition to his assigned Summer reading? You’re supermom.
I made a giant list of recommendations (including many of the ones here) in a post recently, and asked for more. Not that you’re running out any time soon, but if you want more, they’re here, including lots of great additions in the comments. All broken down by rough ages. I love your list and can’t wait to print it for my kids too.
