I wanted to share these five
things to do during nap time because this is one of those key moments in the day… that can get you ahead, just a little.
One of the greatest joys of parenting is watching your child grow.
In order to do that,
kids need sleep – a lot of sleep!
In fact, children ages 1-3 typically need about 12-14 hours of sleep, and infants need more.
Unfortunately, few actually get that much rest. But you can help! By establishing a routine, you can ensure that your child is getting much needed sleep with the help of a daily nap time.
And what should you be doing while your child is napping?
Here are some things to do during naptime, that’ll help you relax and have fun!

Five Things To Do During Naptime
Quiet Time
Nap time can be a welcome reprieve on a busy or trying day.
Instead of rushing about to get things done, make yourself a cup of coffee or tea and sink into your favorite spot on the sofa. Deep breaths, a warm drink, and even 10 minutes of quiet time can turn your day around. If you enjoy reading, pick up
a good book and lose yourself in the story line for a while. Or, if you’re feeling sleepy, close your eyes and rest too!
Planner Junkie
Break out
your planner during nap time for uninterrupted planning fun!
Whether you’re meal planning for the week or updating your bullet journal with goals for the month, doodling, decorating, and mapping out plans is always exciting. Keep your
markers,
colored pencils,
decorative tape, stamps, and stickers in a portable container with a locking lid. It will make your planner time more efficient and keep little hands out of your
crafting supplies!
Exercise
Working out with the kids around can be challenging to say the least!
If it isn’t going so well, use nap time to work out. A quick 20-minute sweat session is the perfect way to get your heart rate up, improve your health, and release tension. Whether it’s your favorite
workout DVD, a HIIT session, or a streaming workout that gets you moving, nap time is a great time to burn calories!
Quick Clean & Laundry Catch-up
When you stay on top of housework, it makes it easier to keep a tidy home.
Create a daily, quick cleaning schedule that consists of wiping down surfaces, doing a quick sweep of the floors, and switching loads of laundry.
A once a month deep clean is great, but even a 10-minute
tidying up every day can make your home look and feel amazing.
Call a Friend
The life of a stay at home parent can be lonely!
Make a standing phone date with your best friend each week and chat during nap time. A quick conversation can brighten your day and reconnect you with the outside world. Sometimes all it takes is a kind friend reassuring you that you’re not alone to make parenting a bit easier. Staying connected to friends outside of the home is essential to your well-being, so don’t hesitate to reach out during nap time even if you don’t have a set phone call get together planned.
If your day is hectic and hurried, take a cue from your child’s sleep needs and rest during his nap time. While you may be tempted to rush around to get things done, sometimes the best thing you can do for yourself and your child is simply relax.
After all, a well-rested parent is a much more patient,
happy, fun parent.
