Preschool Play Based on Literature

Preschoolers love to be read to and to play pretend; combine the two and you are sure to have a great afternoon activity.

literature - books that your kids can experience and re-enact.

Here are some of my favorite link-ups from our Kids Meme, It’s Playtime,  that featured families reading and playing with their kids:

Preschool lesson plans:

Fun and wacky family activity - they ate dinner in the tub. Bet there was no mess :)

If I got to award a “prize” it would go to Jenny who runs a play-based preschool, Academy at a Thousand Oaks.  I want to go out and get the book, We eat Dinner in the bathtub, by Angela Medcaris, just so we can have an excuse to eat our dinner in the bathtub!

…with stories.  Here are other activities that incorporate books into play

  • JDaniel’s4Mom who made a bunny house and road as they reenacted the book Suki, by Carmela & Steven D’Amico. Like this post?  You’ll love her weekly link-up of ways to bring books to life with your kids.
  • Catherine who reenacted the classic tale Princess and the Pea, by Jess Stockham, with her “princess” Minne.
  • Melissa made a sensory tub of Dinosaur things and a habitat after visiting a dinosaur museum and reading the book by Michael Salmon, Albert the Dinosaur who Invented Things.
