How to Catch a Bird in 4 Steps

Holly has a special relationship with all God’s creatures. Because of that bond she has felt the responsibility to share with others important All God’s creature information.

Here is a handy dandy list for your reference:

1. Holly traps beavers, raccoons and turtles.
2. A skunk falls asleep on Holly’s back porch.
3. Holly goes camping in deer country.
4. Holly shows you how to put your dog in the car.

With this amazing All God’s Creatures resume, Holly was not surprised when a bird arrived shortly after Thanksgiving dinner:

A special thanks to the editing wizardry of blog-Stedman…

  1. That is hilarious! And all too familiar. The one time our cat got a bird all the way back to our bedroom, I ended up catching the thing with a camera tripod. I know. Don’t ask.

  2. jill jill bo bill says:

That is the BEST!!! And I thought the squirrel in my mom’s house was the funniest…

  3. Manic Mommy says:

You’re like Snow White. When are you going to teach them to do the dishes?

Our bat hut doesn’t hold a candle to your bird hunt. Much more humane and far less screaming.

  4. Connie Weiss says:

That was great! Great camera work too by the way!

  5. the planet of janet says:

this is definitely award-winning material! will you guys take me to the academy awards next february when you pick up your oscar for best documentary?

  6. This is hysterical! Just came across your blog today and am loving it!!

  7. The Glamorous Life : Wildlife Division says:

This is disturbing on many levels.

    1. What is on your wall up high? Looks like black marks? Iam hoping they are black marks and not blood stains from the stand-in birds you used in the making of this film.

    2. I am going to give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you had been drinking.. A LOT..before you chose the fishing net and pool skimmer.

    3. Your partner in crime called you ‘dude’. Please make that person aware that can only be used within California borders or by a native Californian when VISITING Texas. Glad I cleared that up.

Thank you ElmerFud, I am glad you finally caught him.

  8. That’s hilarious and I love that you got it all on video!

  9. Burgh Baby says:

I am beginning to wonder if you have a deal with the local shady pet store to have these things staged. Oh yes, I am on to you. 😉

  10. Happy Campers says:

Seriously…BlogStedman needs to be your AV guy! That was awesome…

“There’s a hole in the net!”

No sh*t….bwaaa ha ha hah ahahaha

  11. Happy Campers says:

And what was on the ceiling?

  12. Happy Campers says:

OK, I just watched it again..

Did you punch a hole in the wall when you whacked above the shower with the fishing net? ‘Cause there’s a black mark after you smash the net into the wall…

  13. Happy Campers says:

    It’s at 1:09 in the video…

  14. Great blogumentary. You were incredibly composed. I would have done a lot more screaming (in order to coax the bird into the trap, of course.)
Wild animals in homes are frightening no matter the size, am I right?

  15. On a limb with Claudia says:

Oh Holly. Oh birdie. Did it survive?

How does this happen to you? I mean, we keep BEES and no birds come in. Have huge gardens, no birds.

    Have you checked for termites?

I do love love love the hair. It makes your face glow and your eyes light up. Just say “no” to blonde.

  16. “i think there’s a hole in the net”….hahahahaha

most excellent film making, dude =D

  17. LMAO! That is the best! I am totally nominating you for some type of award.

  18. That video is hilarious!! Kinda Blair Witch Project though….ooh, a little nauseated!

This happened to me and my sisters once. We brought an injured bird into the house to “help it” and all of a sudden it came to life!!! It took HOURS to catch it, probably b/c we didn’t have the “right equipment”!!

  19. The Stiletto Mom says:

I am CRYING I’m laughing so hard. What a great video. Also, that song is going to be stuck in my head ALL DAY. Thanks, Holly. 🙂

  20. Mrs Lemon says:

“Look how close he’s letting me get with the camera…” those could be famous last words.

National Geographic will surely be calling you now.

  21. So are you like Dr. Doolittle or what?

And because it has only been asked four times previously, which means I can ask again because the limit is six… What the heck is on the bathroom wall? It looks like you went stamping with the birdy! 🙂

What’s next? How about a BEAR!! Okay, maybe just a racoon will suffice.

  22. Texan Mama @ Who Put Me In Charge says:

That video? Was the highlight of my day. Very Awesome. And how do you do all that cool editing? Do you have video software for that?

and, last question: where did you get the clucking song? Now I’ve got it in my head: “dee dee, dee-deep”

  23. Lisa@verybusymomwith4 says:

Love it but i have to wonder just what will visit Holly next–coyotes are coming closer to town in this cold weather 😉

  24. LOL! That was too funny!

  25. Threeboys1mommy says:

    Blog Stedman is Sorsece!

  26. HILARIOUS! So reminds me of an updated version of the bat catching in The Great Outdoors!

  27. Jennifer H says:

That was hilarious! You two were so brave. (cough)

  28. amomtwoboys says:

I love you. I haven’t told you that lately, but I do.

And I LOVE the darker hair. When did that happen?!

I have a few revisions for you:

Step 1: Make blog-Stedman do it.

    THE END.

  37. Eudea-Mamia says:

The video is awesome, but I’m totally digging your son’s bathroom!! The tile around the sink – adorable.

You should have sent Chicken Suit Rhett in there – he could have talked him down.

P.S. that song is going to be stuck in my head ALL DAY!

  38. Valarie Lea says:

That is hilarious!!! For future reference if this happens again, just take the towel throw on top of him and gentle take it all outside and let him go. It normally works in one maybe two steps. Don’t ask me how I know. 🙂

  39. Angie @ KEEP BELIEVING says:

    No freaking way!!!

  40. spinning in our own direction says:

  42. MoscowMom says:
