All of us have been touched by cancer in some way!  Whether it be by the loss of a loved one or by fighting the disease yourself.   Cancer doesn’t discriminate — it takes hold of all ages, races and genders. 1 in 3 people will be diagnosed this year. And it is estimated that in 2012, more than 500,000 people will sadly lose their fight against the disease.  The good news is that more and more people are now surviving cancer.  There are over 13 million cancer survivors living in the U.S. today!   That is incredible! But make no mistake about it, without the amazing work of the American Cancer Society, that number would not be possible. The ACS is proud to be the official sponsor of birthdays!
Now more than ever there are also steps you can take to prevent certain types of cancers.  The type of cancer most preventable: cancer caused by tobacco and alcohol abuse. According to the ACS, there are ways to prevent cancer: – Stay away from Tobacco – Eat healthy and Get Active – Be safe in the sun – Find Cancer early – Know your family history If you want to do something to help, you can always make a donation to the American Cancer Society! Or volunteer at the next ACS event! This post is sponsored by the ACS.
