Are you familiar with the Texas Bluebonnet Award for books?
It’s like a Children’s Book of the Year award voted on by the kids who read them. Each year a list of about 20 books are nominated for the Texas Bluebonnet Award. Then students across the state in grades 3-6 are asked to read at least five of the books on the list and vote for their favorite. The book with the most votes wins the Texas Bluebonnet Award for the year.
The students vote in January for their favorite author. In order to participate in voting, the site (school, homeschool, public library, etc.) must be registered. The fee for registration is $15 a year. Voting can be done online once a site is registered. There are detailed instructions on the TBA website for registering, preparing for the vote and voting procedures. On this site, you can also find resources for use with the voting and promotion process (such as “I voted” sticker labels).
