Egg Craft: Beautiful Melted Crayon {Crayon Art}

Egg Craft

My kids are mad about boiled eggs.   If there are boiled eggs on their plate at the start of any given meal, I can be pretty sure that by the end of that meal, they won't be there anymore. My kids are also mad about melted crayon art. Give them a hair dryer, or some crayon shavings and you're guaranteed excited big eyes and lovely smiles to match.

Crayon Art

This crayon art combines my children's love of boiled eggs and melted crayon art. It’s  quick and easy, (i.e. doesn't wear down a child's patience as they wait for crayons to melt). There's also no need to grate crayons for crayon shavings (i.e. minimal mess). And to top it all off, it's easy to set up, making it the perfect kids activity as they waiting for those boiled eggs to cool down.

You ™ll need to boil your eggs. Place the eggs in a pot and cover them with enough water so the water level is about an inch above the eggs. Roughly, for every cup of water, place 1 tbsp. of white vinegar. Bring the water to boil and boil your eggs. Once your eggs are boiled and still hot, quickly remove them and place them in eggcups. (I reused the egg carton and cut out little cups to hold individual eggs). Using crayons, simply draw on the hot eggs. As you draw, the crayons melt and become vibrant in color. You’ll need to work quickly, while the eggs are still warm.
