young girls in pageant Forever Angel’s Pageant is a benefit event to raise money for Rett Syndrome research through the International Rett Syndrome Foundation (IRSF). Rett Syndrome is a devastating childhood neurological disorder with no cure and is the leading genetic cause of severe impairment in females. It strikes at random and deprives little girls of speech, normal movements, and hand use, bends their spines and weakens their bones. It brings seizures, breathing and swallowing difficulties, blood pressure and heart rate instability. It leaves its victims profoundly disabled and dependent on others for every basic need.

The Forever Angels Pageant was started by a little 9 year old girl named Amanda.     Amanda’s dream is that one day their will be a cure for Rett Syndrome and her mission is to make that dream a reality. “I want to see this happen in my lifetime, I want to have children when I grow up. If I have a little girl and she is born with Rett, I will know that I helped save her life.” Amanda has received a proclamation from the Mayor of Allen, TX and has received a gold presidential pin for her community service efforts.  Last year the pageant raised over $5,000 for IRSF and they are hoping to raise more this year!   Over the past 4 years, the pageant has raised over $14,700.00 for the International Rett Syndrome Foundation. With your help, researchers are one step closer in finding a cure for Rett Syndrome. If you want to help, stop by the pageant and purchase some raffle tickets. The prizes include an XBOX 360 with kinect, an Apple IPAD 2 with WIFI, $50 I Tune gift card and a $50 Sears gift card. Good luck!
