Costco is my favorite place to get gas. Not only is it convenient (I can shop for groceries and fill up at once) but it’s also cheaper than any nearby gas station.
With that being said, there is a common misconception that the only way to buy Costco gas is if you have a membership.
While it is true, their own Gas pumps read “Members Only” there is a way around that.
How to Buy Costco Gas Without A Membership
If you ever find yourself wanting to purchase Costco Gas but don’t have an active membership, all you need to do is, ask someone you know with a membership to buy you a Costco Gift Card (Costco Shop Card).
You could give this person the money back for the amount they put on it, say $200.
Then you can use this Costco Shop Card at Costco Gas Stations without a Costco Membership.
All you do is swipe the Costco Shop Card, fill your tank of gas and you’re done!
The Costco Shop Card also allows you to purchase items in-store without a membership.
Now, before you come at me thinking this is unethical, this is actually listed right on the Costco website under their FAQ’s for the gas station:
“The fuel station is open to Costco members only. There is an exception: Costco Shop Card customers do not need to be Costco members.”

I wanted to share this information because many people don’t realize this is a thing. With gas prices soaring, every little bit of savings helps.
So, go ask your friends and family if they can hook you up with a Costco Shop Card so you can save on gas!
