My toddler is learning her colors! This was a fun activity that we did together. The older two kids rushed around the house independently, while Quirky Kid A and I looked for all the red items. Unfortunately, this is not an original idea, only I can’t remember where online I read about another family having a color race (but I know you are out there). If your family has done a color race, let me know and I’ll link up to your fun! Haven’t had a color race yet? We used a paint chip as our “color standard”, but you can easily make your own color cards. Turn on a peppy song (see below) and race! See how many objects you can find in your home during the course of the song!

I love the video and hunt idea.
Cool idea, Rachel. Maybe I can use it with my grandkids. When I get grandkids, that is
Such a cute idea!
Love it! Totally going to do that with my son! I’m a teacher and we worked on colors this summer and he’s got them all down except for distinguishing between brown and black. But all basic rainbow colors are accounted for, so this would be fun to do!
We’ve done this as a way to clean up very messy rooms. We gathered items by color to put away.
What a great idea and a fun way to learn colors!
This is such a great idea! My tot is also just starting to learn her colors. I think this is gonna be a great “pick up” activity too!
What a fantastic idea, I especially love the use of a song to set the time for the hunt.
I love the color idea. Added benefits… children are outside, they are using up energy and having fun at the same time.
Great combination.
Carolyn.
This makes me so happy – I love it! I am trying to find rainbow ideas for our Noah’s Ark lesson on Sunday at church and this is PERFECT! Thanks!
