PLAYWITH ROCKS

LET'S PAINT ROCKS!

Painting rocks is a really fun art project for kids of all ages and adults.  No previous experience or level needed...they are rocks!  And after they are painted there are so many things you can do with the beautiful painted stones.

LET'S PLAY A GAME

Rocks are the perfect supply for oh, so many games!  You can play tic tac toe with rocks & sticks, hopscotch, rock people, rock stacking, stone chess or checkers or so many other fun ideas.

MAKE MOON ROCKS

Make your own sparkly moon rocks with baking soda, water, black food coloring and gold & silver glitter.  They are fun to create!  After they are done you have homemade moon rocks that are out of this world.

BUILD A ROCK PATH

Ms. Moyes, a teacher in Indiana, had each of her students express themselves with a painted rock and then gather all the student art in a path next to the school.  I love this on so many levels!

HOT ROCKS PROJECT

Heat up rocks in the oven and then carefully (with adult supervision) melt crayons using the heat.  The artistic result is gorgeous waxy colors that fill stone crevices and blend together beautifully.

CREATE ROCK MONSTERS

This is next level pet rock!  These are the cutest little rock monsters made from googly eyes, glue, pom poms and a black permanent marker.  Oh the cuteness of these three eyed creatures...or two, or four...

BAKE EDIBLE STONES

Bake some garden stepping stone cookies with prepared cookie dough and a sneaky combination of white frosting and crushed Oreos to make a cement-like surface for candy decorations.

MAKE CHALK ROCKS

Homemade chalk made from plaster of paris, water and balloons can be crafted in different colors and then used as sidewalk chalk to color the world.  It starts out as a craft/DIY and ends as an artistic endeavor!

BUILD A TINY ROCK HOUSE

If you have a special rock you want to keep in a secret place or you might have painted a rock you want to give to a friend or loved one, you need to make a tiny rock house!  What a doubly sweet suprise.

TREASURED ROCK STORAGE

When you have three boys who all are into collecting rocks and other treasured items, you have to get creative to keep them all safe (and off the floor).  This is the organization system used when 3 boys shared a room full of rocks!
