Alice Barker was a chorus dancer during the Harlem Renaissance in the 1930’s. She performed nightly and stopped the show with her big smile and great moves. At 102 years old, she’d never seen herself perform. When her old recordings were reformatted, she finally got a chance to see herself perform for the first time ever and her reaction was amazing! Take a look!
When we’re younger, we all have dreams. Big dreams. For Alice it was to dance. And she got to live her dream. After her dream was over, she got to live a big life filled with other amazing dreams and for most of her life the dancing was nothing more than a memory that she told people about. It’s hard to imagine what she must have felt to see her dream live for the first time. To finally see the pictures that lived in her head for all these years. The excitement on her face is evident, but it’s her voice as she talks about it that tells the true story. This big dream has stayed with Alice for a lifetime, and now others will be able to see what she accomplished, too.
