While school has pretty much started for the year for all the kids around here, I’m still seeing first day of school pictures popping up on my social media accounts. Maybe these are slow-moving parents, maybe their districts just start super late. I’m not sure. Regardless, every year when school starts, I start thinking about this little boy. Chances are he’s in third or fourth grade by now, probably a pro at the whole first day business. Chances are he’s seen this video and is either super embarrassed or laughs about it with his folks. For me, this video is how I feel every time I watch my own kids head off to school. Yes, I’m excited, but wow…I miss them. Take a look!
I think a lot of parents feel the same way I do. Yes, starting school means a chance to get back into a normal schedule – a chance to catch up on laundry, maybe even use the bathroom in peace…but, it also means that our kids are growing older. And I’m not sure any of us are ever going to be truly prepared for that.
