“Before we were winners, we were all beginners.” That’s what the US Olympic swim team wants to remind people as they perform in Brazil this year. For every Olympic athlete, there was a moment where they first tried. That first time in the water, that first time on the track, that first flip in the gym. Before they went for gold, they swam for fun…for their parents…for their schools. They didn’t start out as Olympians, but they’ve always loved the games. Take a look! How powerful is that? It’s easy to forget how much time and effort goes into each of these athletes, but seeing them as children really drives home how long they’ve truly worked toward going for the gold. Whether they medal or not, these Olympians are all, truly, champions.
