The Ultimate Guide to Potty Training!

When my kids were getting ready to start potty training everyone told me to start in the spring or summer and just let them run while in the backyard.  In theory that would be great if you could spend the entire day outside but for most of us that is not possible.

So here are some fun ideas and tools you can use to start your potty training adventure.  I will say the rewards method and charts worked for us.  But one thing that worked best of all — setting a timer and going to the bathroom every 30 minutes!

Here’s the Ultimate Guide to Potty Training that including other people’s advice, printables and tools.

Potty Training Hacks

Use coffee filter in the kids potty  – This helps keep the potty clean and fun for the kids to use for target practice.  It is easy to clean, as it lifts right out when you are done.

You shall not pass toilet paper sign – Keep the toilet paper on the roll rather than in the toilet with this hack of using paper or tape to show how much toilet paper to get.

How to remove pee stains from your mattress  – Wow this really works with just a few simple ingredients that you probably already have (like soap, vinegar & baking soda!)

Make a Potty Rewards jar – A simple jelly bean for a pee, two for a poop should do the trick!  This jar is so cute!

Create a Potty Pops wall – A lollipop for each poop… I’m pretty sure it would convince a few kids!

Keep these potty training essentials close by  – Keep everything you will need right next to the toilet for inspiration… books, toys & cleaning supplies.
