Leaning against our family's van I put my feet up on the old country fence. Looking down I thought to myself, this would make a cute self-portrait. So I pull out the iPhone and as soon as I do my little Chico scoots his way closer to me. After several failed attempts to get a picture of just my feet, I decided to take one with him in it.
So Chico's in my new self-portrait. And the picture is sweeter. It's more complete and more complex. His presence even makes it more me. The picture no longer says, these are Christy's feet. It says, this is who Christy is.
My son is part of who I am.
If Jesus were to have a portrait, I think it would be similar. You and I would be a part of it. We are a part of who He is in this world. Parts of His body. Children of God. And when we walk in His will we are contributing to the picture the world sees of who He is.
Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.
