i thought i was scrappy

One of my favorite things to do is to hear my boys laugh.

It is one of the reasons that if everyone gets a bath, fully pajama-ed and teeth brushed they get to watch either America’s Funniest Home Videos or Wipe Out before bed.

Either of these shows is good for a three boy giggle fest.   There is something about bodily harm being caught on tape that puts them in stitches.

Lately they have been favoring Wipe Out which is a bunch of adults running through a very ridiculous obstacle course.

All I can do is cringe.

And believe that I could do it faster, better and with a little more style.

Mom, would you go on Wipe Out?

Of course.

Oh ya.

We had that conversation while watching the show.   The boys then commented on each obstacle and how I probably wouldn’t be able to do it.   Ryan(9) kept pointing out what I SHOULD do in certain circumstances when I am a contestant.

They went to bed dreaming of a humongous foam covered bat hitting me off of a shaving cream covered base into the water of questionable cleanliness.

The next morning on the way to school the conversation continued.

Reid(7):   Mom, are you SURE you could win Wipe Out?

Me:   Of course.   I am scrappy.

Reid:   Oh.

Just then I looked up in the rear view mirror and caught Ryan slowly closing his eyes and shaking his head back and forth…

Ryan:   Mom, you aren’t scrappy.

  1. We love those shows, too. Tonight, we watched AFV and my Ryan said, “Let’s watch the one where someone gets hit in the privates!” Ummm…that would be EVERY show, Ry.

Glad to know I am not the only Mom who enjoys these goofy shows with her boys!

  2. it’s not just the boys that enjoy wipe out since my girls LOVE that show….my husband and them just crack up laughing the whole time…and then rewind to watch certain parts over and over again…DVR it everytime!!! 🙂

  3. I LOVE that photo of his face!

  4. Oldest wants to be a Big Ball for Halloween, but he’s afraid no one will get it – maybe we’ll just come ring your doorbell 🙂

I’m thinking you’re scrappy enough, and could totally represent. Just think of all the fun you could have with the $50,000. High stakes poker anyone?

  5. You should have the boys make you a ‘test course’ to prove your scrappiness and make a video post.

  6. I am sure you would do well in Wipe Out! We crack up at that show too. Although, I think if I were to try Wipe Out, by video would end up on America’s Funniest Home Videos. 🙂

  7. Guess you are just going to have to go on Wipe Out or maybe the Amazing Race to prove to them just how scrappy you are

  8. My boys crack up over that show too. They never say that I should be on Wipe Out. They do say that I should be on Family Feud because I seem to know all the answers. I giggle at Family Feud and they giggle at Wipe Out while I cover my eyes.

  9. Dear Holly – not only do I love this post but I love you because you are the mind child behind business to bloggers which is off the charts so supper cool! I love your posts and pics!

  10. You could totally win at Wipe Out! You should do it. How fun would that be?

My husband sent a video of me screaming and my whole family dying of laughter to America’s Funniest Home Videos last week. I have to admit, it is pretty funny!

  11. Haha! My kids and I love Wipeout. Even more than the people getting pummeled by the Wiper Blades or landing awkwardly on the Big Balls, we love The Johns. Those two make us laugh so hard!
    yes, we are easily amused.
