Along with writing in my stuck-at-home journal, this week I’ve been keeping busy during quarantine with my family and friends!

One of My Favorite Stuck-at-Home Journal Memories: Tv Time with a Teen

Do they solve a crime? He said it with a little sneer. Because it sounds like a MOM SHOW.
Reid(16) and I had been sitting on the couch running through the possible movies to watch together. We had been flipping through Netflix & Hulu for awhile and I could tell that he was about to lose interest in the entire idea if I didn’t come up with something quickly… So I suggested one of my favorite TV series, White Collar…I mean, we literally have weeks ahead of us to work through a series. In fact, choosing just a movie is kinda underestimating our entertainment needs…

Ugh, MOM Shows!

That is when I started getting pelted with questions because no self-respecting 16 year old wants to accidentally be subjected to MOM SHOWS. {Shudder} After some reassurance that I was sure he would like it, he relented with skepticism. Three hours later just before the 4th episode started, I stopped the series to find some food. Reid kinda groaned. Oh, did you LIKE it? I asked… He grinned and replied, “OK mom, that show didn’t suck.” High praise.

FOMO in the Time of Corona

I looked down at my feet and she was just shaking looking up at me with those big dark puppy-dog eyes… Didn’t you want to come with me? Our black & white Frenchie, Panda, has a serious case of FOMO.
She lives her life trying to be in the middle of EVERYTHING just so she doesn’t miss out on anything. Up until a few days ago, I never took her to “my office”. While I work from home, my “official” office is separated from the house which makes it quieter, with less distractions (and usually NO PANDA). When I come back to the house, Panda jumps around like I have been lost for days…even if I have only been gone a few minutes.

Quarantine “Co-Workers”

The other day, Panda just looked sad when I was about to leave so I picked her up and took her with me. It was like the world opened up to her for the first time. She was super excited at first and then fell asleep next to my desk with her tongue hanging out happily. <–actually, her tongue hangs out of her mouth no matter what mood she is in. The next day when I started walking toward the door to head to the office, Panda perked up and followed me. I reached down and she launched herself into my arms indicating that she wanted to go too. Today, she literally was under my feet all morning. I nearly tripped over her multiple times. It was like she believed I would try and sneak out without her. When it was finally time to go, she jumped up into my arms and we went to work. I turned on my computer and looked down at my feet and she was just shaking looking up at me with those big dark puppy-dog eyes… Didn’t you want to come with me? She was exactly where she wanted to be. She had made sure of that by her actions all morning… …and then I began to wonder if now she had FOMO for what was happening at home.
