This past week my older dog was teaching the puppy how to dig holes in the backyard. I know, I know, you’re thinking, “Why didn’t you stop it?” Well, in short, it doesn’t bother me. I mean, it did at first. I would clap my hands and yell at them to stop. I’d try to fill the holes and plant more grass to ‘fix’ the problem areas, but then I realized it didn’t really bother me. They dig to find cool spots, and in Texas that isn’t always easy. Plus, they find bugs and snakes and who-knows-what-else when they dig, and it’s kinda cool watching my dogs be dogs. I think that’s why this video cracked me up. This is exactly what it looks like when my crew starts digging. And, it’s exactly what it looked like when my big dog started teaching the puppy. I guess what it comes down to is the fact that my dogs will only be young enough to want to dig for so long. And since I’d rather them be puppies for life, I’m completely cool with all those holes.
