My son loves snakes. I’m not a fan, but I can live with it. He doesn’t own any snakes, but whenever we’re in the backyard he always searches around until he finds garden snakes.
Luckily we live in an area where there are no poisonous snakes to be found, but still, I’m not a huge fan of his obsession.
Every time he finds a snake skin or a skeleton from a snake that has died he gets super excited and comes and shows me. And even though my skin crawls and I bite the inside of my cheek to keep from screaming, I sit there and listen to him excitedly telling me every single fact he knows about snakes. I say all this to say I feel for the parents in this video.
I can deal with snakes – outside snakes – but if my son was obsessed with cockroaches the way nine-year-old Shelby Counterman is, I’m afraid I’d have to put my foot down. Take a look!
Kudos to Shelby’s parents for bucking up and accepting her creepy obsession. You’re way stronger stock than me.
