When Leonard Nimoy passed away, the world mourned the loss of one of our favorite actors. And, for me personally, one of my favorite people. Turns out Canada was prepared to mourn in their own way, and it’s kind of amazing. When Canada came out with their new five dollar bill a few years ago, people noticed that the face of the prime minister in the corner bore a striking resemblance to Spock. So, people began “Spocking” their bills. Time passed and the fad faded…that is, until Leonard Nimoy passed away last year. At news of his death Canadians decided to start “Spocking” their bills again, and there are even websites dedicated to the effort. Take a look!
So Canada has a new bill again, and it has made “Spocking” more difficult, but not impossible. I imagine, in fact, that no matter how much they change this particular bill, people will always find a way to honor Spock with it. Live long and prosper, Canada, and thanks for making us smile.
