Free things to do with kids

Kids don’t need toys, they don’t need “programs”. I love a few of the activities linked up in It’s PLaytime last week! These are things you can do with your kids almost anywhere with no preparation – and they won’t cost you a dime. Looking for more ideas? Check out our weekly link-up below. Lots of activities are featured each Thursday.

Fort building. Use a tarp, use a sheet, use a jacket, or just crawl under a chair and call it your fort – any way you make them they are classic kid fun!

Play with sticks. Don’t have a collection of sticks in your backyard? Or is it wet and dreary out? Use wooden spoons and spatulas.

Explore your shadow. Brilliant. I love how A Little Learning for Two added chalk expressions to her shadows and her kids created dramas with the faces.

Many thanks to my co-hosts for making this possible each and every week. Check out their blogs and leave them a comment of thanks – Let the Children Play, The Imagination Tree, Messy Kids and Hands On: As We Grow.

Happy linking, and as always we love links back :) I’ll give you a hint for next week: I hope to feature Thanksgiving Activities!!
