Word Families Activity

We were blessed a couple of weeks ago with a carepackage full of art supplies, from Craft Project Ideas, including some nifty letter stamps and finger paint (always a cherished commodity in our house).  The stamps fit perfectly into our learning.  Our younger elementary kids are learning word families.  Each word in the word family has the same ending and we replace the consonant at the beginning to create words.

Word families that are easy to create as “objects”:

a star of ” __ar” words

a man of “__an” words

a tree of “__ee” words

a ball of “__all” words

blocks of “__ock” words

a flower bloom of “__oom” words

a whale of “__ale” words

a rug of “__ug” words

a trashcan of “__ash” words

.

Thanks Craft Projects for helping to make learning fun!  Do you have a early reader?  What are some of the ways you help them learn to read?
