Looking for some fun family activities that don’t involve melting in this 100 degree weather?
We have enjoyed the free family summer camps at Bass Pro Shops!
She Is Dallas Info: The Free Family Summer Camps are taking place at Bass Pro Shops from 1:00 – 5:00 every Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday through July 15th. There are 2 Bass Pro Shops locations in the DFW area: Grapevine – 2501 Bass Pro Drive near Grapevine Mills Mall, 972-724-2018 and Garland – 5001 Bass Pro Drive, 469-221-2600. For more information, please visit the Bass Pro Shops website.
The first thing my kids wanted to do was ride the carousel! This is only at the Grapevine location (sorry Garland!) It is free and there wasn’t much of a line when we went so my kids just stayed on it for about 30 minutes.
There are some great educational workshops on topics like archery, fishing, bird watching, wildlife exploration, shooting, camping, and more. The instructors are fun and the talk is only about 20 minutes so even my wiggly kids could stay focused for that long. I know they were listening because later that evening they were excited to tell Daddy all about what they had learned.
After each workshop, children can answer some questions and complete a scavenger hunt in the store related to the topic. Kids get a free lanyard and can collect pins for each workshop/scavenger hunt they complete.
Be sure to check the website for the workshop schedule so you can know which workshops take place each day so you can be sure to attend them all.
There was also a fun shooting arcade game that uses a really cool toy compound archery bow. I have to get one of these bows because the kids had a lot of fun shooting it and even my little three year old did well with it. You’ve really got to check it out for yourself.
There are also a different craft projects for kids to complete each week from 2:00 – 4:00 on Tuesdays and Thursdays or 1:00 – 4:00 on Saturdays and Sundays. We colored wiggly wooden snakes that the kids could keep. This week the craft is creating your own catch a fish game.
There are even more activities that we didn’t get to so we are planning to go back this week get our free family photo and try out the fishing rod casting targets and the shooting range. Of course, we have to be sure to stay for the FREE S’mores cookout on Saturday from 6:00 – 7:00 pm!
See you there!Powered by Sidelines
