This week’s pick for our best blog feature is 52 Brand New.
We are featuring an interview with Danielle today and rounding up some of our favorite 52 Brand New posts tomorrow. Kids Activities Blog is so excited about our best blog series. We are hoping to introduce you to some sites you won’t want to miss!
52 Brand New is a mission to try 52 new experiences each year. It started in 2011 with a New Year’s Resolution. The purpose of the blog is to not only share experiences, but to inspire others to get out of their comfort zone and try something new each week.
52 Brand New Blog
We are interviewing Danielle today to find out about the mom behind all 52 Brand New Experiences.
Why did you begin blogging?
I began blogging to chronicle my family’s adventures as we try a new experience every week of the year.
What do you hope to inspire in the parents who read your blog?
I hope to inspire people to break out of a rut and try something new with their family.
What is it like to live in your home?
My son is 7 and in first grade. He loves to play outdoors and likes learning about new places. He is curious about the world and would love to travel around the globe. My daughter is 5 and in pre-Kindergarten. Leah is my foodie. She loves to cook and try new foods. She is very interested in science and loves to be active. She is my Cartwheel Queen.
What are your kids favorite activities?
We love to be outdoors. Hiking is one of my favorite activities, and I am happy to share it with my children. I think they like it more than other kids do because I slow down and take it at their pace. Sometimes a half mile hike will take us 2 hours because we’ve stopped to watch ants, turned over rocks to find rolie polie bugs, looked at the map 10 times, and had lunch. Hiking is never about the destination for us. It’s just about spending time together in a beautiful place.
How long can you keep up the 52 Brand New Experiences?
2013 will be our second year of trying a new experience each week. We won’t run out of ideas. There are so many more things we can try as a family. Our biggest challenge will be finding the time to fit a new experience in our schedule.
What is your advice to readers?
Children change so quickly. Sometimes you might feel like you have a new child every 6 months. So, if your child is in a difficult stage, remember it will pass. On the flip side, honor your child’s interests, likes, and dislikes. You might be sick of listening to the same Wiggles song over and over now, but in a few years, you will miss that stage!
