DIY Ornament
Each week I put together art projects for a group of 3 to 5 year old children. So each week I find myself in an arts and crafts supply store, well, drooling, as I wander the aisles. I love Ben Franklin Crafts for a lot of reasons. One big reason are the wonderful ideas they post throughout the stores as inspiration to all us aspiring crafty folks.
This time of year there are a lot of DIY Ornaments. I had to share with you our latest project, perfect for young children.
Materials:
- Red Tempura Paint
- Small/Medium Sized Paint
- 2.5 inch Paper Mache Ball Ornament
- Red, White and Green (or whatever holiday combination) Buttons
- Mod Podge and Glue (I use both because I can never get anything besides paper to stick with Mod Podge)
Kid Made
Approach:
- Paint the Paper Mache Ball Ornament
- Allow time to dry
- Apply Paint and Buttons
- Allow time to dry
- Apply Mod Podge
- Allow time to dry
The result was adorable. The best part was that I truly enjoyed a craft with my 3.5 year old boy. There is a first time for everything. We spoke quietly to one another and really focused on the craft at hand. We also shared laughs and talked strategy on how to prepare our ornament. The experience was special. Thank you for letting me share it with you. Please leave a comment. I love hearing from you.
Warmly,
Marnie
